Group - BSYA(Med.Teach) -
Meditation is the creation & establishing,
within ourselves, a quiet, calm place. A still place where
we can soothe away our worries, problems & limiting beliefs.
Meditation is used throughout the
world, & practiced by nearly every culture & religion.
If you wish to strengthen the relationship with yourself then meditation
is an excellent mental tool to learn & practice. Learning to
meditate takes commitment, a resolution to be at peace within the
self. It is a simple thing to do, but dedication is required.
Meditation allows us to intentionally
enter a state of detachment & heightened concentration & if
practiced on a regular basis can greatly improve our physical,
emotional & mental health. It has infinite potential for the
enhancement of self awareness & deep personal growth. Meditation
offers a psychological cushion, enabling life's hectic pace to
be enjoyed rather than endured. Practicing meditation is like taking
a holiday from stress, illness & life once or twice a day.
Some psychological benefits include
creativity, improved moral reasoning & concentration. Decreased
anxiety & depression. Decreased irritability & moodiness.
Break in addictions. Improved learning ability & memory. Increased
self-realisation, feelings of youthfulness, happiness, emotional
stability, stress control.
Some physical benefits ~ Reduction
in all stress related illnesses. Prolonging Life Expectancy. Pain
Management - meditation may not eliminate pain, but helps people
cope more effectively. Childbirth. Arthritis, cancer & other
chronic illness ~ meditation helps centre people so they can figure
out how they'd like to handle the illness & proceed with life.
Heart health & high blood pressure. Psoriasis. Pre-menstrual
Syndrome (PMS). Tension headaches. Respiratory conditions. Irritable
Bowel Syndrome, ulcers, & insomnia. Immune system - meditation
provides an inner sense of clarity & calm, which, in itself,
may help ward off certain illnesses.
